Vinita Jain is a visual artist who lives in Raleigh, North Carolina and is originally from India. She is inspired by the movement in the natural world, drama and tension between forms and shapes.

Vinita’s work emphasizes the push and pull between colors, forms and rhythm leading to complex and unresolved relationships between the elements in her work. Her drawings combine gesture, push and pull of forms, expressive line and movement. The unresolved tension and drama between the forms in her work is further emphasized by stylization, inspired by Indian motifs that influenced the artist’s early work.

Although she has worked primarily with soft pastel in the past, she has started to experiment with ink, charcoal, acrylic and mixed media. She alternates between creating abstract work and portraits.

Through her work, the artist looks to trigger the imagination of her audience, inspiring the anticipation of conflict and drama along with the tense relationships between the forces and forms in her work.
