I work in a spantaneous and impressionisitic manner using color intuitively along with repititive strokes to convey a sense of energy, rhythm and movement.
Vinita Jain has been drawing and painting since she was a child. Growing up in India, she was exposed to the motifs, patterns and colors in her surroundings, Indian fabrics and handicrafts. After completing graduation, she did Commercial Art course and worked as a Graphic Designer. Around twelve years back, she came to the United States and attended the Art School at Meredith College in Raleigh which further enhanced her artistic skills. Since then she has worked and taken workshops with renowned artists and that has helped her shape her own vision and style.
Vinita likes to work with soft pastels due to its immediacy and spontaneity. She has also recently started working in acrylics. Although her subject matter has changed over a period of time, she feels that her work is moving more towards abstract art. For her color has become a very important tool and she uses it intuitively to express ideas and mood. She also uses color to produce harmony and unity in her paintings. Her style includes working in a free, impressionistic manner with repititive strokes and she infuses that with a strong sense of color and movement.
All along her artistic journey Vinita has been influenced and inspired by many artists. Yet some of the artists whose work brings her immense joy and have had the greatest influence on her own work are Van Gogh, Degas and Wolf Kahn.
